COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Got the clubs all cleaned, bag filled with
ball and tees, and you're ready to play. Ready to win!
Wouldn't it would be a shame for any golfer to be all dressed up and have no place to go?
The Pepsi Bobby Nichols Scramble presented by Budweiser isn't filled yet, but the field of more than 525 golfers is better than 75 percent filled. Tech Athletics officials say the remaining spaces could fill fast, so they are encouraging golfers interested in playing in the three-day event to call soon and reserve their spots.
A major fund raising event for Tech Athletics, the Bobby Nichols Scramble will be June 11-12-13 at three area golf courses. The two-person scramble features 18 holes each day, with a championship flight and 17 additional flights decided on Sunday.
The tournament will be held at Ironwood Golf Course, Cookeville Golf Club and White Plains Golf Club. In addition, the Saturday night barbecue dinner will be held at a fourth course, Southern Hills Golf Course.
"We have been ahead of last year's pace in registration for the tournament, and it looks certain that the entire field will fill before too long," said Misty Pearson, tournament director. "Because of that, we are urging golfers who are interested in playing to call as soon as possible to ensure they get a space."
Teams have their choice of courses and tee times for play on both Friday and Saturday, but many tee times are already filled, Pearson reminded potential entries. That's another reason to get registered as soon as possible, she said.
"Each course can only handle a limited number of teams each day,
so having a choice of courses and times is another reason to not
delay," she said.
