Tammie McMillan, who served previously on the department's administrative staff for two years, returned in July 2007 to Tennessee Tech Athletics in a new position. McMillan, 44, was named assistant athletics director for business and personnel. On July 1, 2008, she also began serving as the Senior Woman Administrator for Athletics.
   
She moved across campus from her position as assistant coordinator for Affirmative Action. McMillan previously served for two years, from 2002 to 2004, as the athletics department's Financial Analyst.
   
As a senior administrator, McMillan administers the financial management operations of Athletics, including personnel, operating, scholarships, and travel. She is also a key person in Tech's efforts to ensure compliance with University, TBR, OVC, and NCAA policies and procedures. She administers the NCAA Studnet Assistance Fund per NCAA guidelines. In addition, she conducts personnel searches for athletics. 
   
A native of Gainesboro, Tenn., she began working at Tech in 1985 as a secretary in the Office of Research, a position she held for more than 12 years. In 1993, she received her Certified Professional Secretary Certification, and in 1997 she served as Information Research Technician for both Affirmative Action and Internal Audit.   
   
Tammie and her husband, Rodney, have two sons, Drew (19) and Marcus (16).
