Kevin Bostian was named in 2010 as the Associate Athletics Director for Development at Tennessee Tech University. A native of Durham, N.C., Bostian was on the staff at East Tennessee State University for nearly seven years before taking his new position with the Golden Eagles.
Bostian, 35, oversees all of the development efforts for athletics, working to maintain current levels and to generate increased support for Tech Athletics.
Bostian came to Tech after three years as Assistant Athletic Director, Corporate Development and Regional Athletic Advancement. He served two years prior to that as Director of Corporate Sales, Marketing and Regional Athletic Advancement for Buccaneer Athletics. He was also Marketing, Promotions, Merchandise and Licensing Coordinator for two years.
Bostian’s primary responsibilities at ETSU included obtaining corporate partnerships for the athletic department and the Buccaneer Sports Network, which increased revenue by 90 during that period. Bostian also was responsible for fundraising for the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association (BASA). His responsibilities also included the BASA regional satellite clubs and events, and the BASA All-Sports Golf Tournament, which increased revenue over 100 percent in the last three years.
Enhancing the Golden Eagle student-athlete experience is a primary focus for the TTU Athletics staff, and will be one of Bostian’s goals.
“The student-athlete experience is important and student-athletes are the reason we do what we do. There are a number of things that can be done through fundraising to help enhance the student-athlete experience, especially through new and renovated facilities,” he said. “Fundraising for a new Student-Athlete Center is a major focus along with a new Indoor/Outdoor Tennis facility. These facilities will help our programs compete at an even higher level. With the recent completion of the new Athletic Performance Center, our coaches have these additional resources with which to recruit prospective new student-athletes.”
Bostian earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Sports Administration (MSA) from Ohio University in 2002. He earned his B.S. in Business Management from North Carolina State University in 2000.
Prior to his seven years at ETSU, Bostian was Marketing
Coordinator for the Gwinnett Sports Commission in Atlanta,
Georgia. While with the Gwinnett Sports Commission, he
assisted with bringing sporting events to Gwinnett County,
including the Adidas All-America Men’s Basketball Camp and
Adidas Top 10 Women’s Basketball Camp.
Bostian has also worked as a Marketing Coordinator at the University of South Alabama, Media Relations Assistant at the 2003 NCAA Men’s Final Four in New Orleans, the 2000 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament, and the 2000 Adidas Roundball Classic along with internships with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Browns and Durham Bulls.
Bostian is married to the former Megan McGraw, and have three daughters, Ayla (6), Zoe (4), and Piper Grace (born Aug. 12, 2014).
