After wrapping up his playing career as a member of the Golden Eagle football squad, Cory graduated in December and joined the Tech Athletics staff in January as a Development Coordinator. In his role on Kevin Bostian's staff, McDonald coordinates a variety of projects, meets with former alumni and others supporters, and assists in sporting and public events to advance the department's development efforts.
A native of Redwood City, Calif., McDonald came to the Golden Eagles as a wide receiver but made the move to the defensive side of the ball during 2011 spring drills, settling into a safety position that he filled for his final three seasons. Playing 41 games for the Golden Eagles, he was also a regular on Tech's special teams and in the defensive backfield, exhibiting an impressive work ethic and hustle. A strong student, he was listed nine times on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
He earned his degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education and Wellness, and looks to add a master's degree in sports management. He comes from a family immersed in athletics – both his father and mother are Director's of Athletics in Atherton, Calif.
