With experience in marketing and alumni relations, connections
to Greek Life, and time spent as a team manager for collegiate
baseball, football and basketball teams, Bobby Long brings a wide
variety of skills and knowledge to his position as an intern in
Tennessee Tech’s Corporate Sales and Marketing.
Longs work with Leveda Birdwell, Director of Corporate Sales and
Marketing, where he handles day-to-day marketing and promotions
activities for most of Tech’s 14 teams.
A native of Chattanooga and a 2008 graduate of Boyd Buchanan High
School, Long spent his first two collegiate years at Freed-Hardeman
University where he served as team manager for the baseball team
two years and the football team one year.
Upon his transfer to Tennessee Tech, he joined coach Mike
Sutton’s program as manager for the Golden Eagle basketball
team. He joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity where he became
active in Greek Life, and in his senior year he worked in the
Alumni Relations office. In the spring semester, he filled a
student internship in Athletics Marketing, where he first worked
with Birdwell.
Long graduated in May with a degree in interdisciplinary studies,
and accepted his one-year internship in Marketing shortly
after.
The son of Bob and Mary Long of Chattanooga, Bobby’s duties include coordinating in-game promotions, initiating new ideas to reach the Tech student-body, helping promote the basketball Hoop Troop, selling season tickets for both football and basketball, and actively engaging the community and campus to have fun and support Tennessee Tech Athletics. In addition, Bobby helps with game production and special events.
