Jessica Mathis, 23, joined the Tennessee Tech women's basketball staff in March, serving in the important role of secretary for coach Sytia Messer and her staff. In addition to handling day-to-day office duties, she also coordinates the program's annual awrds dinner, mailing lists and recruiting contact information.

Born and raised in nearby Baxter, Tenn., she grew up around Tennessee Tech where her mother is employed. Jessica earned her bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech in Interdisciplinary Studies in May, 2009, with a concentration in History and Literature. She workd four years at the University Center Bookstore as a undergrad.

In her free time she enjoys spending time on the lake and participating in water sports. She also likes to spnd time playing with her nephew, her friends and their kids, and riding her horse.

Jessica has wedding plans on the horizon. She and Josh Morgan will be married in September, 2010.
