Note: Each week, the TTU Sports
Information Staff will dig into the school's rich Photo Archives
and publish a photo from the past. Some of the photos will include
identification, but sometimes Tech will ask for viewers' help in
identifying the people shown in the photo. To submit missing
identification or comments about the photos in this series, send an

Featured this week: From the 1984-85
Ohio Valley Conference championship season, Golden Eagle guard
Jimmy Elliott (left) is guarded closely by Chris Michael of the
Clemson Tigers in a game that Tech won, 68-67, in overtime. Jon
Miller grabbed a weak side rebound and banked in a putback with
three seconds remaining in the extra session to give coach Tom
Deaton's squad the victory in the second game of the season.
Elliott was 9-for-12 from the field amd led the Golden Eagles with
21 points in the game. Tech's starting lineup in the game included
Elliott and Carlton Clarington in the backcourt and a front line
featuring Lonnie Boone, Stephen Kite and James Henry. Clemson's
roster included three future NBA standouts in Glen McCants and
brothers Harvey and Horace Grant.
After the 2-0 start, Tech went on to win the OVC regular season
title and eventually host the Tennessee Vols in Eblen Center in
front of a standing-room-only crowd of 10,321.
Elliott, featured in the photo, is battling cancer and has been
writing a blog about his fight against the disease. You can log

Department send our thoughts and prayers to Jimmy's family and
friends.
